October ended up being a crazy busy month. A bit like sprinting through an assortment of activities and obligations until I came down sick with a cold, then I finally ended with celebrating Halloween with the kids. Phew am I ready for a break.
An ordinary life is somehow more exhausting and yet nowhere near as draining as my previous life was. It’s the good kind of tired, where I go to sleep feeling satisfied.
I finished reading A Court of Thorns and Roses and never got around to writing up my final thoughts about it.
The second half of the book was significantly more enjoyable than the first half, which is functionally a retelling of The Beauty and the Beast by Villeneuve in many ways. The second half is where ACOTAR starts to feel like it’s own story. It’s like the book establishes a typical Mary-Sue story then abruptly yanks away the Golden Girl status and lets the main character experience shortcomings and trauma — which makes Feyre far more relatable and likable. I don’t know what it’s like to have more money than god, but I sure am intimately familiar with suffering and surviving.
And oh my god Rhysand. I am 110% team Rhysand. 😂
I haven’t jumped into the next book yet. Too much real life has been happening.
And, as I have previously revealed, I’ve begun writing a novelette — a saucy sensuous story that I would have never been able to write while married. I’m still deciding what sort of upload schedule I want to follow for that one.
Right now though … I’m ready to sit down with a soft blanket and a mug of hot cocoa.
